Dagaz, Daeg
January 6, 2015
In the podcast being released this week we're going back into the Runic Series. Today we will be talking about the Rune in the Elder Futhark called Dagaz, and in the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, Daeg. Some versions of the Anglo-Saxon row switch this Rune in its place with Othila (Othel), this is not wrong as these two Runes are very intimately connected to one another.

In the last episode we dealt with the seed rune of male fertility called Ingwaz, or Ing, and saw how the initiatory process of awakening through this Runic Series lead to the chrysalis of transformation that union with a higher consciousness (or fetch) represents. Coming forth from this chrysalis brings a new understanding not only of one's own inner self, but of Multi verse itself! The Rune we're talking about today speaks to us of a truly different perspective on every aspect of life itself. This Rune is very precious to Balder and represents the "light of day". This does not mean that it is sweetness and rainbows, but the cyclical nature of light and darkness. It is the dispelling of the myth that light and darkness are truly different for one has no meaning without the contrast of the other. We just celebrated in Yuletide around the 21st of December the equinox where we have the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year. Another important time that we celebrate is Midsummer where we have the longest day of the year and the shortest night of the year. This is like nature's object lesson and is something that takes on a whole new meaning when one has emerged from the chrysalis to the understanding that this Rune represents.
Until next time...
