Hagalaz, Haegl, Hagal

August 5, 2014

The broadcast that is being released this week is one of auspicious and powerful connotations. It is the 1st Rune of the 2nd Aett known in the Elder Futhark as Hagalaz, the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc as Haegl, the Younger and Armanen systems as Hagal.

When you take a look at each of the Rune poems that are related to this Rune, you see that it is referred to in a destructive manner and in the creative matter. We see this most prominently in the Anglo-Saxon Rune poem but it is there in the Norwegian, and the Old Icelandic Rune poems as well where it talks about this Rune being “the whitest of grains” or the “the coldest of grains” – – a grain is a seed and in the Anglo-Saxon Rune poem it is referred to directly as a “seed”. Another interesting phenomenon about this Rune especially in its Younger and Armanen forms is that you can extrapolate it into a three-dimensional object from which you can generate every Rune in all the systems! This is what is meant when I referred to this Rune as the “Mother Rune”. Also it’s aspects of destruction (the meaning of the Rune is “hail”) are balanced out by its creative aspects for we are told in the Anglo-Saxon Rune poem that after it has been “whirled around in the vaults of heaven, it then turns to water”. Water is the life-giving substance to all things that live organically that we are aware of on our planet. It speaks to us of cycles – birth, life, death, and rebirth. Everything submits to this cycle except the Runes themselves which goes to show what place they hold in the multi-verse. In this episode we talk about the creative and destructive powers of this Rune and how this is the beginning of initiation into a new level of consciousness – – growing ever deeper and deeper towards the ultimate culmination to which even the gods aspire after.

Pursue the goal!  Follow the cycle!

Until next time...
