Kenaz, Cen, Kaun, Ka

July 15, 2014

This week we're taking a look at the Rune Kenaz, Cen, Kaun, Ka depending on the runic systems that you are using. This is where the runic staves in the 4 systems start to diverge. You'll start to see a more stark contrast as we proceed further along in this series. Frojm left to right we have the Elder version of the stave, next the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, then the Younger Futhark and Armanen Futhorc version.  Note the the Younger Futhark and the Armanen Futhorc version is the same.

This Rune and its most mundane definition stands for "torch". A torch is something that lights things so you can see some of the importance that this Rune has right from the get-go, even in its most mundane definition. Whether it be a cave, a mead hall, a dark tunnel or an evening celebration, the torch makes things that would normally be invisible to the naked eye due to the lack of light, visible so that all may enjoy depending on the circumstances of what is going on. If it is an individual they get to see where they're going rather than stumbling around in the dark. It is a prize of Skaldic prose to ensoul multiple meanings into each stanza or line of the poem or tale. This has a profound impact on the meaning of this Rune when it is looked at in combination with all of the Runes that have come before it. As we stated in the last broadcast, each Rune is not to be seen merely as an individual stave but as a part of a whole, even as we express our individuality in the context of the collective consciousness of our people. That which casts light when it is placed after the Rune which represents a journey under control is very profound indeed!

Find out how this stave is the energy of illumination on our journey of expansion both personally as individuals, and collectively as a people! This refers to the power it has which temporal attachments to our perceptions of “R”eality cannot withstand, and at the same time grants protection from those forces (human or otherwise) that would attempt to topple us from the vibrant balance of our soul complex!

A sixth I know: when some thane would harm me

in runes on a moist tree's root,

on his head alone shall light the ills of

the curse that he called upon mine.
