Laguz, Lagu, Loghr, Laf

The episode being released this morning in the Runic Series is on the Rune: Laguz, Lagu, Loghr, or Laf depending upon which system you are using. This Rune is an extremely powerful Rune that is related very strongly to the one we discussed last week Mannaz, Man or Madhr.
Whereas in last week's episode we discussed how Mannaz was the energy of the perfected human being-meaning "right relationship" with the different aspects of their soul complex and their higher genius (Fetch). This Rune deals with the power of connection in its depth and complexity. In the Rune poems it talks about this stave referring to water, either of a rushing river or of the sea itself. Water also had a very esoteric meaning in many of the burial rites of our ancestors (depending upon the region) which was the barrier one had to cross from this realm to the realms of the dead. In some regions which revered the Vanir they preferred burial in the earth which had connotations of fertility. Many in these regions were still buried in the ground with either carts or ships literally or in likeness. This still speaks of a voyage between this realm and other realms. Crossing the great water had a far deeper meaning then just water as we see it in the natural world. The shape of this stave is the same in all systems, and has the appearance at the top of a wave, but has a long tail that goes down. This speaks of connection to that which is far far below the surface and deep within the innermost being of the person to such an extent that it connects with the collective consciousness of the ancestors! Back up the picture further and you see a connection to the very soul of the earth itself! Deep meditation on this Rune yields great insights and is in fact a gateway Rune that if understood and used correctly (in connection with other Runes in what are called "Bind Runes"-which will be discussed later) can unlock the secrets of Seidhr! When used in esoteric Rune Magic it can draw things to oneself that are from the deepest realms of existence. This Rune also can help one understand the key of knowing one's true self intimately. None of this has any true meaning other than scratching the surface if one has not gone through the initiatory process of Mannaz. It is not enough to just be Awake-one needs to know what to do when one has become Awake! So many will tell you how you can get into certain states of consciousness and awareness. Few will ever tell you what to do when you get there! The Runes do not leave this vital information out!
